Who We Are:

The average graduation rate from a four-year college in America is over 60%. However, it is only 20% for first-generation students and a mere 4% for foster youth. 25% of foster youth graduates will be homeless after graduation. At Ready to Succeed, we are changing these ratios every day, one student at a time.

Ready to Succeed (RTS) empowers first-generation and foster youth college students to graduate, launch and accelerate their careers, and reach their full potential. We offer our RTS Scholars a unique combination of personalized college and career coaching, connections to industry professionals, placements in paid internships, and access to financial and mental health resources. Our program is a proven path to career success.

About the Sr. Director of Development at Ready to Succeed:

We are looking for a highly motivated, mission-driven fundraising leader to infuse a culture of philanthropy across Ready to Succeed, enhance the structure and cohesion of the Development Department, and build a pipeline of next-generation major donors to drive future growth and sustainability. Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Development will join Ready to Succeed at an exciting time as we look towards celebrating our 10th Anniversary with ambitious plans to increase the number of scholars served and growth in our annual fundraising goal.

The Director of Development will lead and inspire a team of enthusiastic fundraisers across Foundations and Corporate Partnerships, Marketing, Community Outreach, and Events and will oversee the design and implementation of all fundraising strategies and activities for the organization. Collaborating with other RTS program members working toward achieving goals and milestones across RTS’s 2023-2025 Strategic Plan, The Director of Development will also play a key role in the Board of Directors' engagement and fundraising.

How your skills and passion will come to life at Ready to Succeed:

Collaborate with the CEO and President to develop annual department strategies, objectives, and metrics that align with the Strategic Plan.
Oversee all department fundraising activities, providing leadership and guidance on developing strategies, priorities, and metrics for campaigns, appeals, grants, donor cultivation, and stewardship.
Cultivate, steward, and maintain a portfolio of key, top-level donors through various touchpoints, including programming events (virtual and IRL), meetings, phone calls, events, and personalized emails/correspondence.
Build strong internal and external relationships
Create and drive the implementation of a Board Development in collaboration with the CEO, President, Board Chair, and Current Board of Directors.
Collaborate closely with other Directors and model a spirit of cross-department collaboration by spending time at programming events and in the Santa Monica office.
Drive continuous stewardship of major gift prospects, coordinating with appropriate Board, volunteer, or staff members.
Inspire a Culture of Continuous Improvement by Monitoring and Analyzing Fundraising Data.
Cultivate a dedicated team culture of continuous improvement through daily monitoring and analyzing of fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed---including donor engagement and retention rates, analyzing revenue streams, and making data-driven decisions to achieve fundraising goals.
