Job objective: Develop, coordinate, market, and monitor various Economic/Community Development initiatives for the city. The incumbent will be instrumental in assuring that Sherwood continues to be one of Arkansas’ premier places to live, work, and play!
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Promotes and develops the City of Sherwood, under the supervision and direction of the Mayor, by conducting research activities and actively creating programs and projects that support the mission and vision of the organization.
Ensures all initiatives and projects are in compliance with the city’s standards and expectations.
Represents Sherwood as a liaison in local and regional economic development, requiring the occasional travel and work outside of normal business hours.
Creates and maintains a quality network of economic development and community partners.
Assists staff in writing grants and manage the compliance of all grants awarded to the city.
Effectively communicates with the public, city employees, management, public officials, business owners, real estate executives, bankers, developers, and technical staff to communicate needs of multiple parties, develop programmatic activities, and explain projects.
Capable of developing economic impact reports that detail economic outputs as a result of all economic development projects implemented.
Capable of assisting leadership staff in further enhancing existing programs, campaigns, and projects.
Comprehends and makes inferences from written materials such as reports, appraisals, land and title reports, and building cost estimates in order to understand and develop project proposals, establish work schedules, and negotiate agreements.
Aid in the development of short and long term economic and community development plans, as well as the gathering of information and preparation of studies, reports, and recommendations to achieve such goals. This may involve the preparation and maintenance of information on utilities, taxes, zoning, transportation, community services, financing tools, incentives, and city priorities, in order to market the City and respond to requests for information for economic development purposes, and the coordination with other departments and agencies as needed.
Network with people at all levels of local, regional, state and federal government, as well as business leaders; act as an ambassador/liaison for the City of Sherwood and for existing businesses.
Work directly with the community and business owners to promote the City as a good place to do business.
Organize and facilitate a community development planning process that positively engages residents, community stakeholders, local businesses, industry leaders, and city staff.
Serve as a member of economic development groups and/or task forces that promote economic and community development within the City of Sherwood.
Complete other duties and tasks as needed or assigned.
