DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR, THEOLOGY OF WORK PROJECT
Position Location: Pacific Northwest, or remote
Website: www.theologyofwork.org
OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW
Amidst the growing movement of Christians longing to bring their faith into their workplaces, the Theology of Work Project has carried the unique role of Bible-based foundation for the workplace. The biblically complete and frequently cited Theology of Work Bible Commentary () shows what every book of the Bible has to say about our work. This free resource in 6 languages touched over 10,000,000 users last year and is the deepest, largest, and most trusted source of biblical material related to work.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE
TOW seeks a Development Director to broaden our base of major donors, in order to expand program online and deepen connection with groups local to the Pacific Northwest including our partners at KIROS in Bellevue, Seattle, and Tacoma, the Institute for Marketplace Transformation in Vancouver, Urban Impact in Seattle, and Union Gospel Mission in Seattle.
VISION 2025
The Development Director will raise funds from new major donors to support the following opportunities:
Job Preparation and Poverty Alleviation. Seattle. TOW is currently exploring partnerships with two ministries in Seattle aimed at alleviating poverty and preparing participants for the workforce.
Urban Impact: TOW is developing a multi-prongued partnership with Urban Impact Seattle to aid their job training programs.
Using TOW’s growing Spanish Language capacity to equip Urban Impact’s Spanish-speaking leaders with Bible-based training to be used in their job preparedness and economic improvement programs.
Working with Urban Impact’s entrepreneurship program to develop a theological foundation for entrepreneurship. Helping entrepreneurs connect their economic goals with a Christian work ethic.
Union Gospel Mission: TOW is working with UGM Seattle to pilot a Biblically based job preparedness program for their in-patient population.
UGM is committed to incorporating TOW materials into their new training modules
The Biblical materials developed in partnership with UGM will serve as a starting point for connection with other Gospel Missions throughout the United States.
Engaging Pastors and Churches in the PNW. Our desire is to leverage the work of the Development Director to engage groups of pastors who are not currently helping their congregations prepare for the workplace.
Our Cuentistas program is already committed to serving three to four cohorts in the PNW in between 2025 and 2028. This program is in Spanish, making use of the Spanish translation of the TOW Bible Commentary and of the TOW Project’s network of Spanish-speaking pastors, seminary faculty and mentors
Using the Cuentistas program as a pilot, we propose to expand to English-language pastors in the PNW as an entry point for reaching the wider church with the message that work matters, and the Bible matters for work.
