Required Experience:
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in arts education, education administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in arts education, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Demonstrated success in program development, team management, and community engagement.
Strong understanding of current trends in arts education and a passion for the transformative power of the arts.
Strong understanding of Creative Youth Development principles and practices.
Have very strong project management skills and ability to delegate responsibilities
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
A deep commitment to HSA’s mission and values, with the ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment.

Position Title: Senior Director of Education Programs
Location: 645 Saint Nicholas Avenue, New York, NY 10030 (fully onsite)
Salary Range: $115K – $125K annually
Position Overview
The Senior Director of Education Programs is a key leadership role at HSA, responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and evaluation of all educational programming. This individual will ensure that HSA’s curriculum aligns with the organization’s mission, meets the highest standards of arts education, and reflects the diverse cultural heritage of Harlem and beyond. The Senior Director will work collaboratively across departments to expand HSA’s reach, enhance program quality, and strengthen partnerships with schools and community organizations. This role will also work in tandem with the Senior Director of Education Operations & Partnerships to ensure that programmatic operations are in alignment with department director and teaching artist needs and expectations in service to the creative community at HSA.
This is a full-time, on-site position. See schedule below:
Schedule: Tuesday - Friday: 11am - 7pm
Saturday: 9am - 5pm
*Subject to change and occasional Sundays, early mornings, and late evenings must be flexible
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Program Oversight:
Develop and execute a strategic vision for HSA’s educational programs across all disciplines (music, dance, theater, musical theater, and media arts & design).
Oversee the development and continuous improvement of curriculum and instructional practices to ensure excellence and relevance.
Manage the integration of educational technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
Work with organizational leadership on the board and executive officers.
Implementation of a Summer Camp Program:
The Summer Camp Program Director is responsible for the overall planning, implementation, and supervision of a comprehensive summer camp program. This role involves developing engaging activities, managing staff, ensuring safety protocols, and fostering a positive camp experience for all participants.
Staff Development and Supervision:
Lead, mentor, and evaluate a team of four program directors, teaching artists, and administrative staff.
Lead, manage and support a staff of four and support teaching artist faculty.
Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and professional growth among staff.
Facilitate professional development opportunities for staff and teaching artists
Partnerships and Community Engagement:
Cultivate and maintain partnerships with schools, cultural institutions, and community organizations to expand access to HSA’s programs.
Represent HSA in external forums and advocate for arts education in the broader community.
Budget and Operations Management:
Oversee the education department’s budget, ensuring efficient use of resources while maintaining program quality.
Develop and monitor systems for data collection, reporting, and program evaluation to assess impact and inform decision-making.
Student and Family Engagement:
Collaborate with the admissions and enrollment team to maximize student recruitment and retention.
Ensure that programs address the needs of diverse learners and are accessible to all students, regardless of background or ability.
