Location: Columbia, SC

ESSENTIAL DUTIES- (With or without reasonable accommodations)
Champion Able SC’s Mission – Fully embrace and advocate for the organization’s vision, ensuring alignment across all development initiatives.
Strategic Fundraising Execution – Implement and refine a robust fundraising plan that aligns with the organization’s strategic goals, expanding revenue streams and donor engagement.
Grant Identification & Development – Proactively research and identify funding opportunities at local, state, and federal levels, collaborating with leadership to develop impactful programs that drive independence and inclusion.
Program & Campaign Leadership – Lead strategy development and execution for the capital campaign, working closely with the CEO and fundraising committee.
Donor Pipeline Management – Build and oversee a comprehensive individual donor pipeline, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and retention strategies.
Fundraising & Engagement Strategies – Oversee digital and direct mail campaigns, ensuring fund development is seamlessly integrated into programmatic events and community activities.
Event Development & Management – Lead and expand fundraising events to enhance donor engagement, retention, and overall financial impact.
Board & Leadership Collaboration – Support the Fundraising Committee of the Board of Directors and assist the CEO in cultivating and retaining development engagement.
Fundraising Infrastructure & Systems – Develop and maintain effective fundraising systems, including donor databases, acknowledgment protocols, and comprehensive reporting mechanisms.
Strategic Planning & Analysis – Conduct ongoing analysis of fundraising performance, identifying opportunities for growth and preparing detailed reports for the CEO.
Marketing & Communications Support –Work with the VP of Public Relations to oversee the creation of fundraising-related publications and materials to enhance donor engagement and community outreach.
Organizational Leadership – Play an active role in leadership meetings, staff development, and cross-departmental collaboration to further Able SC’s impact.
Special Assignments – Take on additional responsibilities as delegated by the CEO, ensuring timely execution and strategic alignment.

QUALIFICATIONS
Passion for Able SC’s mission and commitment to advancing the independence and inclusion of people with disabilities.
7+ years of progressive fundraising experience, including leadership roles in development, major gifts, grants, and donor relations.
Proven track record in securing major gifts, managing capital campaigns, and achieving fundraising goals.
Strong grant writing, donor cultivation, and corporate sponsorship experience.
Excellent strategic planning, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-impact environment while balancing multiple priorities.
Experience managing fundraising software, donor databases, and CRM systems.
Knowledge of fundraising best practices, IRS regulations, and ethical standards in philanthropy.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) or similar credential.
Experience working in nonprofit organizations serving people with disabilities or related social impact fields.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Able South Carolina (Able SC) is seeking a dynamic and strategic Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead the organization’s fundraising and advancement efforts. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CDO will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive fund development strategy to ensure financial sustainability and drive the organization's mission forward. This role requires a visionary leader who excels in relationship-building, strategic planning, and revenue generation.
Beyond fundraising, the CDO will collaborate closely with program and operations teams to ensure the seamless preparation of local, state, and federal funding opportunities.
