Position Summary:
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the academic and strategic leader of Irvington Community Schools (ICS), ensuring instructional excellence, leadership development, and student achievement across all three campuses. The CEO collaborates closely with OEI, the Board of Governors, and school principals to advance ICS’s mission with best practices in education. This role also acts as ICS’s chief spokesperson, advocating for academic and
organizational growth, overseeing HR functions, and building external relations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Vision:
Champion and uphold 'The Irvington Way' in all leadership decisions, ensuring mission-driven excellence across academics, culture, and community engagement.
Lead the leadership team in establishing academic priorities, student success benchmarks, and long-term strategic goals.
Collaborate with the Board of Governors to refine ICS’s mission-driven objectives and strategic initiatives.
Serve as the primary external representative, advocating for ICS’s academic vision and initiatives with authorizers, policymakers, and educational leaders.
Lead ICS’s advancement strategy, securing funding, partnerships, and grants that enhance academic programming in collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer.
Academic Excellence & Leadership Development
Directly supervise, coach, and support school principals and key academic leaders in advancing instructional leadership.
Oversee the execution of ICS’s High Ability Program, English Learner (ELL/ENL) services, Exceptional Children programs, and athletics, ensuring equitable access and academic rigor.
Develop and implement leadership training programs to build a robust pipeline of future school leaders.
Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment
Ensure fidelity of curriculum implementation, instructional strategies, and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) across all schools.
Oversee the administration and compliance of assessments, working closely with school testing coordinators.
Champion alignment and innovation in instructional materials, digital learning tools, and
classroom delivery.
Data-Driven Accountability and Compliance
Analyze student performance data to drive instructional improvements and inform academic decisions.
Manage academic performance tracking systems, ensuring alignment with ICS’s scorecard and strategic goals.
Present performance reports to the Board, ensuring transparency and continuous improvement.
Serve as the liaison to legal counsel on academic and personnel matters, maintain strong relationships with charter authorizers.
Human Resources & Talent Development
Collaborate with the Director of HR, ensuring efficient recruitment, onboarding, evaluation, and retention.
Support in handling personnel concerns, ensuring equitable policies and resolving key staffing issues.
Ensure HR policies, legal compliance, and employment practices align with ICS’s mission.
