Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, construction management, public administration, nonprofit leadership, or a related field; advanced applicable degree(s) a plus. At least 10 years of leadership experience with recent senior management level experience. Prior experience with Habitat or a similar nonprofit organization. General knowledge or understanding of mortgage finance, fair housing, HUD programs and the current real estate/market trends. Knowledge of Florida trends is a plus. Demonstrated experience in financial planning and budget development. Experience leading and developing a team-based culture with a focus on individual development and organizational growth. Demonstrated experience or strong knowledge of construction management and mortgage banking. Strong fundraising, sales, and donor engagement skills. Excellent written and verbal skills. Experience as a key spokesperson for an organization with an ability to motivate diverse audiences such as corporate executives, government officials, civic groups, faith-based organizations, and community groups. SALARY & BENEFITS The starting salary range is $125,000 - $175,000 and shall be commensurate with experience. Comprehensive benefits package including medical with a flexible spending account – (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA), dental, vision, hospital indemnity, accident, life insurance, employer paid short and long-term disability and 401k savings plan with a company match, commuter benefits. The successful candidate will have exemplary leadership skills and significant practical experience motivating and leading a team-oriented, mission-driven organization. Charlotte County Habitat is governed by a strong and dedicated Board and run by a well-managed, compassionate, and professional staff. The CEO will work alongside the Board and leadership team with the goal of empowering staff and volunteers at all levels within the organization to recruit and retain partners, donors, and staff to expand Habitat’s mission of providing affordable home ownership. CHARLOTTE COUNTY HABITAT Charlotte County Habitat is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities, and hope. Our affiliate is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman, and child should have a place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all. Since 1987, Charlotte County Habitat has helped over 580 Charlotte County families achieve the dream of home ownership and this year we plan to help an additional 28 qualified partners achieve their dream . Our homeowner program success rate is 97%, and we continue to reinvest 91 cents of every donated dollar into our programs. Charlotte County Habitat homes are sold at an affordable price to qualified applicants who meet our program criteria, who have been selected by the Selection Committee and who have been approved by our Board of Directors. Partners repay the cost of the home through a zero-interest loan which enables Habitat to build more homes for deserving families. Our applicants must have a need for affordable housing, the ability to pay their mortgage and the willingness to partner with Charlotte County Habitat and complete the program requirements. Charlotte County Habitat raises funds locally by partnering with individuals, businesses, government agencies, and churches and is not supported financially by Habitat for Humanity International. Our affiliate operates four ReSale stores, one in Punta Gorda, two in Port Charlotte and one in Englewood, which sell new and used donated items. These stores generate significant revenue which helps fund the construction of additional homes for families in Charlotte County. POSITION SUMMARY Working together with the Board of Directors, the CEO will have overall accountability for the success of the organization with responsibilities for, but not limited to, construction, retail operations, finance, human resources, fund development, and advocacy. The CEO will collaborate with the Board and senior leadership team to review the organizational vision and develop new strategic and operating plans to lead all staff to higher levels of performance. The CEO will further develop and guide the senior leadership team to provide inclusive and effective leadership to a workforce comprised of highly diverse skill sets, functional responsibilities, professional interests, and socio-economic backgrounds. Charlotte County Habitat is seen as the leader in affordable housing locally, using its advocacy and communications teams to create strategic brand content, provide staff with key messaging, and elevate Habitat in the community. The CEO serves as the top brand representative and supports the communications team in strategizing to position the affiliate as influential and innovative in the current affordable housing sector. Initial areas of focus will be: Being seen as an employer of choice, recognized for how Charlotte County Habitat cares for its employees and for its commitment to a culture of belonging. The growth in Florida, rising housing costs, and issues related to pandemic and hurricane recovery provide an opportunity to review how Charlotte County Habitat can use new strategies to meet its mission and vision. Increased partnerships with other organizations serving the same population including other nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and various government agencies; increase collaboration with these entities and for-profit builders to ensure that the most effective and efficient provider offers services. Investment in staff development, recognizing the benefits of promoting from within, whenever possible, as a way of demonstrating upward mobility and viable career paths within Charlotte County Habitat. Oversee the management of four Habitat ReSale locations, ensuring strong financial performance and alignment with the organization’s mission. Ensuring a robust revenue stream. RESPONSIBILITIES Leads a collective team of Board and staff to develop and implement a strategic plan to guide growth, expansion, and community impact. Develops and monitors established goals and strategies to advance the mission. Provides self-improvement opportunities throughout the organization that leads to the advancement of decisions that are seen as fair and transparent. Ensures that the organizational culture rewards initiative, creativity, and a willingness to lead and take responsibility for actions. Oversees and promotes growth in senior leadership positions, establishes individual goals, and reviews performance on a regular basis. Financial and Operational Leadership Oversees strategy development with the senior leadership team to meet annual budget goals and monitors performance to ensure long-term financial viability of the organization. Makes sound financial decisions and program recommendations based on a thorough understanding of the organization’s overall financial position. Ensures the best use of operating capital to achieve the overall mission. Builds an operating structure with sound succession planning throughout all levels of the organization. Ensures that the organization is prepared to demonstrate operational and financial flexibility to fulfill its mission, especially in times of uncertainty. Public Relations and Community Impact Develops and maintains relationships with diverse internal and external publics to advocate for housing as a right. Serves as the principal spokesperson in the community. * Focuses on the overall impact of the organization in the community, with particular emphasis on increasing Charlotte * County Habitat’s capacity to serve its mission of providing affordable housing to those in need. Looks broadly at community needs to review and ensure alignment of programs to need and mission and continued relevance to the vision. Board of Directors Serves as the principal resource to the Board of Directors and its key committees and with the senior leadership team gives informed direction in policy formulation and interpretation, preferred strategies, and resolutions. Provides regular and concise reports to the Board to ensure a transparent flow of operating and financial information. Promotes a collaborative relationship with the Board of Directors along with a willingness and ability to serve as an initiating force when needed to accomplish organizational goals. Maintains an effective working relationship with the Board, characterized by open communication, respect, and trust. Supports Board development, especially the recruitment of new Board members. |
