Full job description
Summary/Objective:

The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for raising blended annual, capital, endowment, and planned gifts from an assigned portfolio of individual donors and prospects rated with capacity for six- and seven-figure gifts as part of both Philadelphia Ballet’s ongoing Building Joy Campaign and regular operations. The successful candidate will build meaningful individual relationships with donors and prospects on behalf of Philadelphia Ballet, actively solicit philanthropic contributions, achieve ambitious financial targets, and regularly identify, research, screen, rate, and cultivate both existing and new prospects for support at the major gifts level. As a member of the Advancement team, which comprises Development and Marketing staff, this position reports to the Campaign Director and collaborates closely with all colleagues across fundraising, communications, and events.

Essential Functions:

Frontline Fundraising—

Maintain targeted portfolio of 80-100 donor and/or prospect households currently contributing or qualified to contribute at least $10,000 annually to Philadelphia Ballet. Through individualized cultivation and solicitation, secure renewed and increased support from these donors—growing their relationships with every area of our world-renowned arts organization.
Coordinate and deliver donor benefits of various kinds, including for (though not limited to) the Leadership Barre Society (leadership giving), the Edwin E. Tuttle Society (planned giving), and the Building Joy Campaign.
Balance competing fundraising priorities across current-use and endowed support of the organization by consistently creating blended ask strategies to propose to prospective donors.
Identify and qualify prospects to expand membership for the Leadership Barre Society and Edwin E. Tuttle Society utilizing all available research tools.
Build and develop comprehensive donor pipeline and maintain accurate outreach/progress reporting in our Tessitura database to acquire new and consistent major supporters.

Track assigned portfolio performance in our Tessitura database and produce regular financial, prospect management and research, and metrics reporting for interdepartmental review.

Capital Campaign—

Serve as a critical fundraiser for the ongoing multimillion-dollar Building Joy Campaign to create the Philadelphia Ballet Center for Dance on North Broad Street (58,000 square feet facility) and build Philadelphia Ballet’s Endowment.
Participate in specific campaign strategy development, including campaign donor and prospect research and identification, execution of campaign briefings and events, and campaign-focused solicitations.

Stewardship and Events—

Leverage Philadelphia Ballet events to cultivate and steward any and all major donors and prospects, incorporating personal messaging, segmentation, and individual follow-up within targeted approach.
Participate in a robust rotating performance schedule and all major Advancement events and activities.

General—

Collaborate across the Advancement team to ensure consistent, comprehensive, donor-driven strategies for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

Perform additional duties as required/assigned by Philadelphia Ballet in conversation with your direct supervisor.
