About This Position:
Spurred by an impactful 10-year organizational history and tremendous fundraising growth, the Major Gifts Officer is a newly developed role at MTC. This individual will join a development team of one full-time employee and two consultants. Together with the Managing Director, Artistic Director and Board of Directors, the development program will raise $1.8M in FY26. The sources of MTC’s charitable revenue include institutional grants, annual benefit proceeds, individual and Board giving. Currently, individual and Board giving accounts for $750,000 of the charitable revenue budget. With many new show attendees and donors to MTC, major gift revenue through our Partners Circle program (donors $1,000 - $50,000+) has significant growth potential.
The Major Gifts Officer will report directly to the Managing Director while working in partnership with the Artistic Director and MTC’s experienced Donor Relations Manager. Acknowledgement and administrative support will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
The Major Gifts Officer will develop and execute successful fundraising strategies for a portfolio of individuals capable of making 5-7-figure gifts in support of general operations and campaign initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity for a knowledgeable and energized front-line fundraiser to scale MTC’s philanthropic impact. Key responsibilities include:
Lead philanthropic strategy and provide guidance on major gifts initiatives..
Develop the annual major gifts plan for inclusion in the larger development plan.
Build and manage a portfolio of 75-150 individual major gift donors and prospects. Design effective strategies to cultivate and solicit major gift prospects (minimum gift level of $5,000) and personally solicit them for one-time gifts, multi-year pledges, and planned gifts
Implement regular portfolio touchpoints including calls, customized emails, letters, MTC tours, in-person meetings, and other donor engagement opportunities.
Support and engage staff leaders, the Board of Directors, and Development Committee members in the strategy and solicitation of their personal major gift prospects.
Expand the major gifts prospect pipeline by identifying potential donors within annual and mid-level giving pools, leveraging connections of existing major donors, and engaging key MTC constituents with philanthropic networks.
