Key Responsibilities:
Donor Relationship Management
Serves as a relationship manager to +/-150 prospects and major donors throughout the West Coast.
Maintains a relationship record to document individual donor strategies and track all meaningful interactions; personal visits, Zoom calls, phone calls, proposals, presentations, and other communications.
Collaborates with Awana US missionaries to further donor relationships, creating greater fundraising revenue and outreach possibilities within the assigned region.
Strategic Fundraising
Develops and implements a personalized donor strategy that aligns with the Awana funding priorities, for the purpose of generating revenue, lifting donor investment, and increasing donor retention. Strategies include clear timelines for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
Reaches individual annual portfolio goals.
Continues education in planned giving. Develops a strategy to cultivate planned giving prospects within the assigned portfolio. Solicits planned gifts where opportunities exist.
Is a visible presence at Awana donor events, such as the Child Discipleship Forum, boutique donor cultivation events, and fundraisers.
Mission Alignment & Professional Development
Supports, promotes, and passionately communicates the Awana mission, vision, philosophy, goals, and strategies.
Supports, upholds, and demonstrates the Awana cultural values in internal and external communications and relationships.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

What You Need:
Minimum of five years’ experience and success in fundraising, preferably in a Christian ministry.
Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) desired, with a concentration in business, communications, public relations or similar from an accredited college or university.
CFRE certification is a plus.
Experience in prospect identification, relationship building, solicitation, and stewardship is essential.
Successful experience working with boards of foundations, business executives, project and funding development and making presentations to professional groups.
Experience collaborating with other fundraising professionals in a supportive team environment.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Salesforce NPSP, or comparable donor relationships management database.
Proficiency with Google Drive and Microsoft Office strongly preferred.
Familiarity with the US Church landscape and global non-profits.
Familiarity and/or experience with Awana Clubs, local church discipleship ministry, or global missions engagement strongly preferred.
Valid US passport.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to effectively communicate. The employee is also required to regularly utilize computer equipment (e.g., screens and keyboards) to perform work. The employee is frequently required to move about the work environment. Local, national and international travel is required.

Summary
The Major Gifts Officer (MGO) plays a pivotal role in advancing the mission of Awana by cultivating, stewarding, and soliciting major donors across a portfolio of +/-150 high-capacity relationships. This frontline fundraiser is responsible for deepening engagement with current and prospective donors, aligning their philanthropic goals with Awana’s global discipleship vision. The MGO collaborates closely with internal teams and senior leadership to craft strategic donor plans, communicate impact, and ensure an exceptional giving experience. Success in this role will be defined by growing donor investment, fostering long-term partnerships, and securing critical funding to expand the reach of Awana to children and youth around the world.

This position works primarily remote with frequent travel on the West Coast for donor engagements, and other locations occasionally as required for strategic organizational meetings, including to our offices in St. Charles, IL and Nashville, TN.

Hiring Range for this position is: $90,000 - $100,000 annually.
