Required Experience:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
Licensed Certified Public Accountant
Ten years’ experience in a financial leadership role
Eight years’ experience in a non-profit environment, educational facility, or comparable industry
An understanding of or familiarity with cost accounting or manufacturing

Demonstrate a sound working knowledge of current role and the technical systems, processes and applications used in performing the role understanding the impact this role has on other business functions within the organization

JOB SUMMARY:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides financial and organizational leadership, oversight, and strategic direction to ensure that Vibrant Works has accurate and timely financial reporting, effective financial policies and procedures, strong internal financial and operational controls to enable the organization’s growth and successful execution of its strategic goals. The CFO collaborates with President/CEO, Board of Directors, and peers, to lead and monitor the financial business impacts including financial and management reporting, cash, receivables, payables, internal controls, financial policies, planning and analysis, and federal regulatory reporting requirements. This position is also responsible for developing solid business relationships with the external auditors, banking and finance community, and key supplier partners. This position exists to ensure the financial health of Vibrant Works in both the short and long term by overseeing financial operations and examining business practices while minimizing risk to the organization.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads Accounting and Planning managers; direct and coordinate activities of the Finance department
Assesses accounting processes for best practices opportunities to ensure work can be successfully achieved with appropriate resources
Prepares and distribute accurate and timely financial information
Performs effective analysis of financial information and prescribe action plans to address any identified financial or operational concern
Establishes and maintains internal financial reporting controls and supporting policies setting the tone at the top for the organization
Partner with the Senior Leadership Team and department leaders on financial issues in their respective areas
Leads the relationship with the external auditor and ensure satisfactory compliance with financial reporting and internal control requirements
Reviews and updatee financial reporting processes and policies recommending changes when necessary; ensuring the organization adheres to all financial reporting requirements and President/CEO and Board of Directors’ commitments
Leads and coordinates the budget preparation and planning effort across all departments ensuring that the operating budget reflects leadership strategies
Oversees the organization’s capital budgets to ensure the appropriate use of funding sources, including earned income, governmental funding, grants, donor restricted funding, and other revenue opportunities
Presents financial information to a variety of key stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, President/CEO, the Senior Leadership Team, departments and staff, and external strategic stakeholders
Serves in an advisory/support capacity to the Board of Directors, Finance Committee, Audit Committee, Investment Committee and Others as required
Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of the organization’s operating and strategic goals to be effective in financial oversight of the organization
Identify, acquire, and implement systems and software, collaborating with IT, to provide critical financial and operational information. Evaluate and deploy these tools to generate process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the team or organization
Assesses accounting/finance department to ensure team member development, an effective and functional structure including appropriate staffing levels and job roles, and overall team effectiveness
