OVERVIEW:
This position will serve closely alongside the President and colleagues to develop and execute strategic plans and produce expanding generosity in support of SAT-7’s mission. To accomplish this, this leader will recruit, develop and retain a world-class development team comprised of seasoned professionals, raising the bar of excellence and stewardship in our Ministry Partner relationships.
HIGH-LEVEL OBJECTIVES:
Working closely with the President and others, the VP & CDO will:
1. Contribute to the establishment of codified organizational norms covering essential dimensions of our fundraising such as team culture, theology and philosophy, strategy, staff professional development, and operations.
2. Recruit, develop and retain a team of seasoned, world-class professionals who find deep joy in their work, who beautifully model Jesus’ love in their attitudes and actions, and who meet or exceed their revenue goals.
3. Develop and execute a generosity strategy that sustainably raises $20 million a year in support of our mission by 2030.
4. Continually deepen Ministry Partner relationships in all aspects, including measurable gains in prayer engagement, donor acquisition, retention and upgrading, peer activation, and donor satisfaction.
MAJOR FUNDRAISING RESPONSIBILITIES:
What areas of focus are necessary to accomplish the high-level objectives above?
1. Build relationships with colleagues at the International Office and at the Channels. Clarify the International Office’s strategic funding priorities that are shared and executed worldwide and provide focus to our fundraising efforts.
2. Polish a case for support for the U.S. market, articulating Kingdom trends, SAT-7’s future promise, our unique role and qualifications, and promised measurable outcomes, so we speak with one voice and inspire expanded giving.
3. Initiate a third-party fundraising review to identify organizational opportunities for fundraising growth. Implement several new tools such as a file screening and professional prospect research. Optimize portfolios to maximize giving.
4. Recruit nationally recognized and respected philanthropic thought leaders who champion the mission and invite giving from their peers.
5. Develop a world-class team of people who all inhabit a love for Jesus, passion for our mission, extraordinarily high capacity, a career of fundraising capabilities and successful results, impeccable character, and positive contributions to team chemistry and culture. Align the structure to optimize results.
6. Engage lead Ministry Partners to develop sustainable and diversified revenue streams and lead gifts from each target market segment, and ensuring the right mix of fundraising practices that produce income for both operations and strategic priorities.
7. Ensure plans and practices that produce operational excellence including professional development and performance management, vision trips, events, research, writing, CRM management, travel, budgets, etc.
8. Develop and adopt a personal portfolio of major strategic partners and nurture relationships to a deep and lasting partnership.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strengthen a culture of ministry, goal performance (both team and individuals), and stewardship.
Interview, select, hire, and develop Development Team members.
Staff who are focused specialists with specific markets, such as mid-level donors, major donors, legacy donors, churches, foundations, and organizations.
Collaborate closely with the Marcom Team in its role to develop small-donor relationships, along with assets used by the Development Team.
Other supervisory duties as assigned.
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate as a member of the Executive Team and Management Team to develop, articulate and implement culture, strategic plans and policies to ensure accomplishment of goals. Work with other members of the ET & MT to track progress of the organization’s mission and overall business objectives.
Provide support to team members through the recognition of issues and consultative guidance toward resolutions.
Develop departmental operating budget for area of responsibility. Manage assigned responsibilities in keeping within or under budget plan, monitor expenditures against plan, and review, investigate, and report on variances.
TEAM PARTICIPATION:
Each member is expected to participate in the life of the team, including:
1. Team events that focus on prayer, fellowship, training and development.
2. Task forces that facilitate creativity, solutions, and cross-department collaboration.
3. Modeling the culture we desire.
OTHER DUTIES:
· Travel 25-50% of the time, including significant time in the MENA region.
· Perform or assist with any assignments as required or directed.
· This position may require some lifting up to 25 lbs.
