About Ground Force Humanitarian Aid (GFHA)

Ground Force Humanitarian Aid (GFHA) is a data-driven, media-forward disaster relief organization powered by the trust of everyday people and the strength of storytelling. From rapid deployments to long-term recovery, we provide stability for communities devastated by crises—especially the elderly, disabled, and vulnerable populations who are often at risk of falling through the cracks. Our five-program model combines real-time data, grassroots innovation, and national media visibility to drive efficient, compassionate response and long-lasting recovery.

About the Role

We’re seeking a seasoned Development Director (contract) to build and execute our fundraising function over the next nine months. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a startup-like nonprofit environment, can lead through ambiguity, and is both a strategic thinker and tactical doer.

This position requires a seasoned development professional who is comfortable with data, fluent in narrative storytelling, and confident engaging with media platforms to deepen donor trust and inspire generosity.

The ideal candidate is a strong relationship-builder, a metrics-driven planner, and a compelling communicator who can guide major gift strategy, grant development, and donor engagement with authenticity and clarity.

Key Responsibilities

Phase 1: Foundation & Quick Wins (Months 1–2)

Clean and segment 18,000+ donor records by engagement, geography, giving capacity, and history.
Establish and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for donor stewardship, gift acknowledgment, and CRM data entry.
Launch a reactivation campaign targeting 2,000+ lapsed donors.
Plan and execute a seasonal and disaster-specific fundraising appeal.
Train board members on stewardship; facilitate donor engagement.
Set up and maintain fundraising metrics dashboards.
Target Deliverables:

$75K in immediate unrestricted revenue
200–300 donors reactivated
Fully segmented CRM and finalized donor journeys
Phase 2: Capacity-Building Campaign (Months 3–6)

Develop a compelling case for support focused on year-round readiness.
Identify and qualify 75 major donor prospects; schedule 30+ meetings.
Launch a $450K campaign to fund 2–3 key staff positions.
Prepare and submit 5+ foundation grants for general operating or capacity-building.
Lead a peer-to-peer mini-campaign; pursue 3–5 corporate sponsorships.
Target Deliverables:

$270K in pledges secured by end of Month 6
$50K+ in confirmed grant awards
30 donor meetings completed
Phase 3: Internal Readiness (Months 7–8)

Create a 12-month fundraising calendar (appeals, events, grants, and stewardship).
Build and maintain a 100+ prospect pipeline with assigned next steps.
Develop a plan for continued board and volunteer engagement.
Finalize campaign pledges to reach 85% of goal ($380K).
Phase 4: Transition & Handoff (or transition to W2) (Month 9)

Ensure 100%+ of $450K campaign goal is committed.
Assist in hiring and onboarding a full-time W‑2 Development Director (if not transitioning yourself).
Introduce new hire to top 50 donors and provide donor histories and handoff plans.
Deliver final fundraising playbook, campaign data, and 12-month action plan.
