The Director of Grassroots Engagement will help lead decisions about organizing strategy, build and mobilize a base of housing abundance advocates, and engage with existing community groups.

The ideal candidate is a skilled community organizer who is exceptionally good at understanding and connecting with diverse constituencies and able to codeswitch to meet people where they’re at. We are also looking for someone who can adapt to complex and changing political environments. Finally, Arizona Neighborhood Project is a small team and each person sometimes does work beyond what might fit into a narrow job description.

Duties

Develop and execute strategies to build a sustainable base of supporters and advocates.
Collaborate with lobbyists and local pro-housing groups.
Engage with a variety of community groups to provide information, recruit supporters, and prevent or respond to opposition and misinformation.
Mobilize volunteers to show support for pro-housing legislation via public testimony, emails to elected officials, press conferences, etc.
Host and plan meetings and events, give presentations, have one-on-one conversations, house meetings, etc.
Draft basic materials (i.e. emails, calls to action, handouts).
Provide support in miscellaneous other areas, depending on organizational needs and candidate skills/interest.
Requirements

5+ years of experience in community organizing or related work
Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field (strong candidates without a degree will still be considered)
Excellent interpersonal, writing and communication skills
Willingness to travel across the state, as needed
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Preferred

Knowledge of land use, zoning, or housing policy
Experience in local or legislative advocacy
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
