Required Experience:

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Development, Nonprofit Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in community development, program management, or a similar role, preferably within the nonprofit sector focused on disabilities or special needs.
Strong understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and their families.
Proven ability to engage and motivate diverse groups, including volunteers, families, and community partners.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Experience in grant writing and fundraising is a plus.
Passion for promoting inclusion and empowering individuals with disabilities.

Overview:

The Difference 2-17 is dedicated to empowering individuals with autism, neurological diversity, and other disabilities by providing them with opportunities to develop essential skills for independent living and employment. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Director of Community Development to lead our initiatives and foster a supportive environment for our community of adults aged 18 and older, including seniors.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to engage and expand the community’s involvement with The Difference 2-17. Foster relationships with local organizations, businesses, and schools to promote our mission and services.
Program Development: Design and oversee innovative programs and activities that promote skill development, social inclusion, and independent living for our clients. Ensure these programs meet the diverse needs of our community members.
Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, and motivate volunteers to support our programs and initiatives. Create a positive and rewarding volunteer experience that aligns with our mission.
Family Outreach: Engage with families of participants to provide updates on programs, gather feedback, and encourage their involvement in community activities. Develop resources and support networks for families to enhance their experience.
Marketing and Communication: Develop communication strategies to raise awareness of our organization’s mission and programs. Utilize social media, newsletters, and community events to share success stories and updates.
Collaboration: Work closely with staff across all locations, including Inclusive Acres, to ensure a cohesive approach to community development and service delivery.
Funding and Grants: Identify funding opportunities and assist in writing grant proposals to support community development initiatives. Manage budgets related to community programs and ensure financial sustainability.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish metrics to assess the effectiveness of community programs and initiatives. Regularly evaluate and report on program outcomes to stakeholders.
