Required Experience:

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or related field OR applicable education, specialized training, and documented experience and ability

Strong leadership skills, including the ability to effectively coach direct reports to success
Must have a valid driver’s license, a positive driving record, and reliable transportation
Volunteer management experience preferred
Knowledge of adult education principles, practices, and techniques; and instructional and/or curriculum design
Ability to formulate learning objectives; to create and evaluate learning opportunity objectives, requirements, and effectiveness of delivery; to communicate effectively; and to assess learning opportunity needs
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and to interact professionally and tactfully with people from all backgrounds and cultures in person and by telephone
Ability to present material to a large audience
Knowledge and experience in problem-solving, conflict resolution, and analytical processes
Willing and able to travel on prior notice throughout GSofSI jurisdiction
Possess the ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings/weekends, and to travel as the job requires

Job Summary
The Director of Adult Education is responsible for effectively leading the Education team in developing, planning, organizing, and implementing the council education training strategies and campaign to ensure all adults and girls report high satisfaction. This position is accountable for developing tactical and strategic plans for adult training to ensure the entire team works cooperatively to promote great work and a positive internal team environment. She/he makes recommendations for short-term and long-term strategies and oversees the development and implementation of adult education within the council.

This remote position must be able to attend regular meetings, trainings or events virtually or in-person within our council jurisdiction, as needed, during or outside of business hours.

Accountabilities

Responsible for the design, development, and delivery of year-round training opportunities to meet the needs of adults at all levels of the organization
Cultivates adult development strategies to assure that the council has selected, appointed, and trained qualified adult volunteers in all operational positions
Ensures content material is updated consistently and available in multiple mediums
Directs the update of training materials to ensure they are relevant, engaging, user-friendly, and compliant with all applicable standards
Integrates technology into the development of curriculum its delivery, post-training evaluations, and record retention of training completions
Leads the selection and supervision of volunteer trainers
Manages volunteer learning management system, including its updates and upgrades
Directs the creation of course toolkits for facilitators/leaders to ensure consistent delivery of council message consistent with the organizational policies
Develops and administers an annual operating budget for adult training Monitors department financial reports to ensure they are in line with organizational goals, department work plans, and budgets
Develops and implements systems for maintaining training records of all adult learners
Directs the planning, development, and dissemination of training resources (e.g., materials and forms, marketing flyers, etc.) in conjunction with the marketing/communications department to promote council volunteer educational programming
Proven experience in curriculum development, instructional design, and teacher coaching.
Strong background in adult education methodologies and classroom experience in diverse educational settings.
Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other learning technologies.
Experience working with students across various age groups, including those requiring special education services.
Bilingual skills are a plus, enhancing communication with a broader range of students and families.
Demonstrated ability in lesson planning, tutoring, and implementing effective literacy education strategies. The Director of Education will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational landscape of our organization while ensuring that all students receive high-quality instruction tailored to their unique needs.
Trains and supervises Adult Education Managers and any other staff assigned to the department
Provides information and written reports to assist with training evaluation; maintains, analyzes, and uses statistical data for quality improvement
Delivers reports to the management team with written and accurate reports on training
Administers the Leader’s Lounge Facebook group to ensure the group is distributing accurate and positive information promoting the Girl Scout movement
Works in partnership with the council’s marketing/communications staff to disseminate information to the community about Girl Scout volunteer training
Coordinates effectively with all Council departments to ensure training is well coordinated and goals are reached
Serves as the staff expert on training content and delivery
Provides professional and quality customer service to members, volunteers, staff, and other community contacts
Networks with community partners within GSofSI jurisdiction to provide more training resources for volunteers
Collaborates with other departments as needed
Other duties as assigned
