Position Summary

The Major Gifts Officer is a frontline fundraiser responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding ARC’s major donors and philanthropic partners. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Major Gifts Officer manages a portfolio of high-capacity individuals, foundations, and corporate supporters who share a commitment to criminal justice reform and equity.

While the Director of Development sets ARC’s fundraising strategy and oversees the Development team, the Major Gifts Officer is externally facing—building authentic donor relationships, securing corporate sponsorships, connecting supporters to ARC’s mission, and securing transformational gifts that advance the organization’s $25 Million+ budget. This position is ideal for an experienced major gifts officer with extensive relationships with high-net-worth individuals and philanthropically-minded corporations who thrives on personal engagement, storytelling, and inspiring donors to invest in social change.

Candidates who have been directly system-impacted are strongly encouraged to apply.

Essential Job Functions

Manage a portfolio of 100–125 moderate to major donors and prospects, with an emphasis on securing 6 to 7 figure individual contributions.
Cultivate and steward donor relationships through personalized outreach, meetings, site visits, small gatherings, and regular impact communications.
Solicit significant gifts in collaboration with the Executive Director, Director of Development, and Board of Directors.
Develop compelling cases for support, proposals, and reports that align donor interests with ARC’s mission and programs using evidence-based research and in-house data.
Partner with program staff to highlight ARC’s reentry services, advocacy efforts, and lived-experience leadership in donor engagement.
Lead the management and oversight of the individual donor management software for prospecting, documenting, and reporting of contributions.
Represent ARC at donor meetings, community events, and other external opportunities to grow visibility and support.
Cultivate in-kind gifts and corporate sponsorships to support ARC events and elevate programmatic impact of the organizational broadly.
Other duties as assigned to support the Development Team at large
