Required Experience:

Requirements:
10+ years progressive leadership in nonprofit fundraising; experience in philanthropic, media or cultural institutions strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience leading integrated fundraising teams.
Proven track record of securing six- and seven-figure gifts.
Deep understanding of membership models, digital fundraising, institutional giving, and corporate sponsorships.
Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and team leadership skills.
Strategic thinker with data-informed approach to donor and revenue growth.
Commitment to reflecting the entire community in donor engagement and staffing.
Knowledge familiarity and on-going engagement with Nashville’s philanthropic landscape a strong plus.

Growth in overall contributed revenue year-over-year.
Strengthened donor pipeline health and retention.
Membership retention and digital membership conversion rates.
Year over year expansion of major donor and mid-level donor bases.
Increased collaboration and efficiency across fundraising functions.

Nashville Public Radio seeks Vice President of Development

Join Nashville Public Radio — we are seeking a transformative Vice President of Development to lead, empower, and align a talented team of fundraising professionals.

The Vice President of Development directs all philanthropic revenue strategy and development for Nashville Public Radio. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the VP serves as a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for building a

sustainable, diversified revenue base to support the organization’s programming, independent journalism, music discovery, events, community building and public service mission. As an independent nonprofit, we serve as a civic anchor and cultural voice for our region.

At Nashville Public Radio, we serve music lovers and news junkies with a local flavor that reflects Nashville’s creativity and ambition. Nashville Public Radio informs and inspires Middle Tennessee through trusted journalism, music discovery, and storytelling that connects our communities.

The VP will work in close partnership with the six-person development team, including leaders in major and mid-level gifts, institutional giving, membership, and donor communications, to strengthen strategy, integration, and long-term revenue growth

with an emphasis on cultivating Nashville’s new wealth sectors while stewarding longtime donors.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Strategic Fundraising

Lead the creation implementation of a comprehensive, multi-year fundraising revenue strategy in collaboration with the team.
Oversee campaigns, special initiatives, and semi-annual membership drives and strategies.
Partner with the CEO, Development Officers, and Board to identify, cultivate, and secure transformational gifts.
Oversee the donor database and CRM systems to ensure accurate tracking, segmentation, and reporting.
Support team members in developing compelling donor communications and storytelling-driven campaigns.
Serve as staff lead to the Board Advancement Committee.
Create and manage annual department budget, planning and associated scorecard that tracks outcomes on a quarterly basis.
Partner with CEO and executive team to develop strategic plan for Nashville Public Radio.
Expand Major & Leadership Giving

Partner with the Major Gifts Officer to expand and strengthen a robust major donor pipeline ($10,000+).
Support strategies to deepen mid-level giving and launch planned giving initiatives.
Build relationships with Nashville’s philanthropic, corporate, and civic leaders to enhance visibility and partnerships.
Model and reinforce a culture of stewardship and personalized engagement.
Explore potential Capital Campaign for Nashville Public Radio.
Innovate Membership & Digital Growth

Collaborate with the Membership and Digital teams to evolve programs for both digital-first and legacy radio audiences.
Champion innovation in digital fundraising, audience conversion, and donor analytics.
Partner with programming departments on campaigns that align audience growth with donor acquisition.
Oversee membership events program and expand current efforts to reach and engage a new generation of members to Nashville Public Radio.
Grow Institutional Philanthropy

Partner with the Institutional Giving Officer to expand foundation and philanthropic partnerships.
Provide strategic oversight for proposal development, funder cultivation, and impact reporting.
Ensure the annual impact report effectively communicates mission outcomes and donor value.
Lead and Inspire the Development Team

Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing development team encompassing major and mid-level gifts, membership, institutional giving, donor communication and analysis, and events.
Foster collaboration, accountability, and creativity within the team.
Build and sustain a culture of philanthropy across the organization— ensuring all staff see themselves as ambassadors for Nashville Public Radio.
Partner with colleagues in corporate support, the newsroom, WNXP, events, and operations to align fundraising with organizational priorities.
