About Us:
Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization committed to building strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. As a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, we bring people together to construct homes, creating lasting change in the lives of families and the communities we serve.
Guided by our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live, we work alongside homeowners, volunteers, and partners to make safe, affordable housing a reality throughout Brunswick County.
Position Summary:
The Executive Director is a visionary, mission-driven leader responsible for guiding Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity (BCHFH) and its ReStores in advancing the mission to build homes, communities, and hope. Reporting to the Board of Directors, this role provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure that programs, finances, and partnerships effectively support BCHFH’s long-term sustainability and community impact.
The Executive Director oversees all aspects of the organization’s operations, including staff management, strategic planning, fiscal oversight, resource development, and community engagement. As the public face of BCHFH, this leader builds meaningful relationships with donors, volunteers, and community partners and serves as the key liaison among the Board, committees, and staff.
Core Responsibilities and Priorities:
Leadership, Vision, and Strategy
Serve as Chief Administrative Officer, ensuring alignment with BCHFH’s mission, values, and the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors.
Collaborate with the Board to develop, implement, and monitor strategic goals and objectives.
Position BCHFH for growth, innovation, and long-term sustainability through sound planning and organizational development.
Oversee personnel management, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and professional development, working collaboratively with the HR Manager.
Financial Management and Sustainability
Develop and oversee the annual operating budget for review by the Finance Committee and approval by the Board.
Manage resources responsibly, ensuring fiscal accountability and transparency.
Work closely with the Finance Manager, Treasurer, and Finance Committee to monitor financial performance, review reports, and ensure compliance with approved budgets.
Development, Marketing, and Public Relations
Serve as the primary public representative and spokesperson for BCHFH.
Promote the organization through media engagement, storytelling, and a consistent community presence.
Partner with the Development Director to strengthen BCHFH’s brand recognition and reputation as a leader in affordable housing.
Advocacy and Community Engagement
Advocate for affordable housing and Habitat’s mission locally, regionally, and statewide.
Represent BCHFH at community events, public meetings, and regional housing coalitions.
Build partnerships with nonprofits, civic groups, faith-based organizations, and government entities to expand the organization’s reach and impact.
Administration and Operations
Implement affiliate policies, procedures, and Board directives.
Oversee day-to-day operations of the Affiliate and ReStores to ensure efficiency, accountability, and mission alignment.
Partner with the ReStore Manager to ensure operations meet financial and programmatic goals.
Partner with the Construction Manager to ensure homes are completed on time, within scope, and budget.
Prepare and present monthly reports to the Board of Directors.
Serve as the liaison between BCHFH, Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI), and Habitat for Humanity North Carolina (HFHNC).
Lead long-term strategic planning efforts and assist with Board recruitment and training.
The Executive Director must believe in the mission and promote it. Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian housing ministry, dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and creating affordable homeownership opportunities. This mission is rooted in a process of mutual help and respect, involving community volunteers and those with housing
