Full job description
Position Overview
Feeding Louisiana is seeking a senior-level Director of Communications and Resource Development to lead strategic communications, fundraising, and brand positioning for the statewide association of Louisiana’s five regional food banks. This role is responsible for building and protecting Feeding Louisiana’s voice, securing financial support for our work, and advancing policy and program priorities that reduce hunger across Louisiana.

The Director will design and execute integrated communications and resource development strategies that elevate Feeding Louisiana’s mission; increase statewide visibility with media, policymakers, philanthropy, and partners; and generate new public and private funding. The Director will also coordinate and align statewide messaging, campaigns, and resource development efforts in collaboration with communications, development, and advocacy staff at the five regional food banks.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Communications, Brand, and Narrative
a) Define and protect Feeding Louisiana’s statewide voice on hunger, health, and equity.
b) Develop and execute strategic communications plans that elevate Feeding Louisiana with media, policymakers, philanthropy, and partners.
c) Lead proactive media, messaging, and advocacy campaigns that advance policy and funding priorities.
d) Ensure crisis, legislative, and program messaging is accurate, consistent, and aligned across all five regional food banks.
e) Serve as a primary spokesperson and support the Executive Director and food bank CEOs with message development, talking points, and briefing materials.

Statewide Coordination, Campaign Execution, and External Relations
a) Convene and coordinate communications, development, and advocacy staff from the five regional food banks to align messaging, share assets, and execute unified statewide campaigns.
b) Support joint initiatives that elevate the collective work of Louisiana’s food banks with legislators, state agencies, health systems, philanthropy, and the public.
c) Manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects with clear timelines, roles, deliverables, and accountability.
d) Anticipate operational challenges (timing, capacity, reputational risk) and propose solutions that protect the network and strengthen impact.

Fundraising and Resource Development
a) Build and implement a comprehensive resource development strategy that includes individual giving, corporate partnerships, private philanthropy, and public funding opportunities.
b) Cultivate and manage relationships with major donors, corporate partners, foundations, and other high-value stakeholders to secure significant financial commitments.
c) Oversee donor stewardship: acknowledgments, impact reporting, and ongoing engagement that drives retention and growth.
d) Design and execute targeted fundraising initiatives and campaigns (digital appeals, employer partnerships, donor briefings, etc.).
e) Work with development and advancement staff at the five regional food banks to identify shared opportunities and avoid duplication of effort.

Grant Strategy and Management
a) Lead the grant pipeline for Feeding Louisiana: prospecting, proposal development, budget framing, submission, and follow-up.
b) Maintain strong relationships with institutional funders; position Feeding Louisiana as a statewide solution partner.
c) Ensure compliance with all grant terms, deliverables, and reporting requirements.
d) Track and report progress on pending proposals, awards, and renewals for leadership and the Board.

Digital Strategy, Content, and Analytics
a) Own Feeding Louisiana’s digital presence (website, email, social, paid digital, advocacy tools) and ensure it supports fundraising, visibility, and policy objectives.
b) Oversee content development, calendar, and quality control for all public-facing channels to drive donations, sign-ups, advocacy actions, and statewide credibility.
c) Maintain and optimize website content and user experience to improve reach and conversion.
d) Manage email marketing and digital engagement campaigns; segment and target audiences for maximum impact.
e) Use CRM, donor management platforms, and analytics tools to measure performance, monitor KPIs, and inform decision-making.
