EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, education, business administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of senior management experience in a nonprofit environment, preferably in education or community engagement.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors and will oversee a team of two part-time staff members. The ED will also manage volunteers who assist with a variety of projects and special events that directly benefit DEF. At all times, the ED will foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that supports the organization’s core values.

COMPENSATION

The compensation package for the Executive Director will be in the range of $60,000 - $75,000 and will commensurate with qualifications and experience. This package will include:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Executive Director (ED) will be a visionary leader and advocate for the Dare Education Foundation (DEF), a respected organization dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities for all students in our community. This exciting opportunity involves leading DEF into the future while building on its history of innovation and commitment to access in education. The ED will hold primary responsibility for the strategic oversight of programs, fostering community relationships, and ensuring fiscal sustainability to fulfill the mission of DEF.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND FINANCIAL ACUMEN

The Executive Director will:

Lead the organization in long-term planning, ensuring the vision, mission, and strategic pillars are effectively defined and successfully implemented.
Oversee financial planning and management, ensuring the integrity of budgeting and financial controls to safeguard the Foundation’s resources.
Work closely with board and staff to implement innovative organizational and programmatic strategies that support effective communication and coordination.
Manage staff and provide day-to-day and long-term direction, supervision, and guidance, modeling collaboration, transparency, and respect to ensure a cohesive team environment.
GOVERNANCE AND LEADERSHIP ALIGNMENT

The Executive Director will:

Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and the staff, fostering strong communication and collaboration.
Carry out the bylaws and all policies, procedures, and resolutions approved by the Board of Directors.
Work collaboratively with the Board to engage and motivate members, empowering them to act as effective advocates for DEF.
Partner with the Nominating Committee to identify, cultivate, and develop new Board members.
Play a key role in the strategic planning process, ensuring that the Board's vision is translated into actionable initiatives.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS AND ADVOCACY

The Executive Director will:

Serve as the primary spokesperson for DEF, enhancing public engagement through media interactions and community presentations.
Build and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, government officials, and educational partners.
Advocate for the Foundation’s mission, raising awareness and support within the community and among policymakers.
ADVANCEMENT

The Executive Director will:

· Serve as the chief fundraiser for the Foundation, acting as its visionary and spokesperson.

· Lead the development and execution of major fundraising initiatives, identifying and cultivating relationships with individuals, grantors, and foundations.

· Manage annual fundraising appeals and plan community-focused fundraising events to increase visibility and support for DEF's mission.

· Build and steward relationships with donors, enhancing the diversity and reliability of charitable giving while ensuring effective donor stewardship.

Develop strategies for effective communications, ensuring that donors feel appreciated and informed about the impact of their contributions.
· Promote DEF’s image and visibility regionally as a leader in educational advancement.

· Oversee marketing, public relations, and communications in collaboration with staff to ensure coherent messaging and outreach.

· Liaise with the Board of Directors and community stakeholders to amplify awareness and support for the Foundation's initiatives.

TEAM CULTURE AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT

The Executive Director will:

Create a positive organizational culture that promotes collaboration, transparency, and employee engagement.
Mentor and support staff, fostering their professional growth and enhancing teamwork across the organization.
Oversee volunteer engagement strategies to enhance community participation in DEF’s initiatives.
