Full job description
We are looking for someone with trade association experience, strategic planning and execution experience and budget/financial bottom-line expertise. The CEO must be a creative thinker; an effective problem-solver; be able to see both the big picture and be able to oversee the details necessary to execute identified plans and goals. The CEO has overall managerial and administrative responsibility for the association.

Legislative Process - This position requires:

Strong understanding of public policy, government functions, legislative process and the political landscape
Ability to analyze social trends as it impacts threats and opportunities for the hospitality industry
The ability to work on both sides of the political spectrum to advance the hospitality industry’s interests
Skill developing coalitions with other organizations to achieve legislative goals
Provide legislative testimony with impact
Understand how and when to mobilize membership and all AK CHARR affiliates for best political impact
Political Action Committee fundraising and experience are a plus
Association Management – This position requires:

Demonstrated ability to plan organization-wide activities including setting objectives, developing strategies, budgeting, developing policies and procedures and organizing the functions necessary to accomplish the activities
Ability to implement short- and long-term strategic plan goals
Maintaining and growing membership numbers and participation
Experience communicating with public and media on behalf of an association
Strong public speaking skills
Crisis management experience
Excellent written, communication and people skills
Developing promotional materials for association programs, events and communications
Experience working with a diverse board of directors strongly preferred
Strong understanding of management and coordination with affiliate/chapters
Strong leadership skills to work with board in collaborative effort to develop industry positions
Understanding the economic pressures on hospitality industry operators
Experience analyzing risks to mitigate prospective liability for the association
Understanding of communications and management technologies appropriate to an association
Human resources knowledge
Contract management experience
Travel Required
Financial Acumen – This position requires:

Ability to maintain and improve the organization’s financial health
Business management skills required to oversee enterprise activities; including training department, publications, charitable gaming and events (non-dues revenue is 90% of the CHARR Budget)
Experience with contract review and negotiation
Ability to develop, prepare and present annual budget for board approval
Ensuring that the budget is implemented to meet board objectives
Providing leadership in soliciting sponsorships
Ensure fiscal controls at all organizational levels
Managing CHARR owned building and tenants
Oversee financial practices and policies of the organization
