Required Experience: QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree and seven (7) years related experience in fundraising, including direct solicitation of six- and seven-figure gifts or sales/business development; institutional (foundation/corporate) fundraising experience strongly preferred. At least 4 years of management or leadership experience is desirable, customer relationship management, marketing, communications. High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required. Mastery of in-person and virtual presentation technology is also required. Knowledge and application of CRM systems, electronic payments/pledging, performance tracking/reporting, and communications tools are a plus. Language & Communications: Must be comfortable and adept in communicating with all levels of corporate partner staff, from front-line employees to executive management. Ability to develop and present high-quality presentations to a variety of group attendees and group sizes – from one-on-one to large meetings of 100+, in-person and virtually. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required as is the ability to persuasively present UWCM messaging verbally and in writing, adeptly respond to questions, and act as a positive and professional representative of United Way. Full job description POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT: The Vice President of Strategic Partnerships is a key senior leader responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising and partnership strategy to drive revenue growth, deepen corporate support, and enhance brand value for United Way of Central Maryland. This position requires the ability to develop transformative partnerships and align institutional philanthropy with UWCM’s programmatic goals. This role will refine UWCM’s approach to building strategic partnerships with corporations spanning philanthropic giving, sponsorships, in-kind support, employee engagement, shared value partnerships, and broader corporate new business development opportunities. By cultivating a portfolio of institutional donors and prospects, the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships will also lead a team of relationship managers, coordinate executive volunteer leadership efforts. Reporting to the Senior Vice President & Chief Development Officer, the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships is actively engaged in cross collaboration within the resource development, impact strategies, grants and marketing teams; representing United Way of Central Maryland at local, regional, levels, as required. This role helps to ensure United Way of Central Maryland’s ability to achieve its mission to improve lives by empowering leaders and mobilizing the caring power of our communities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 50% Resource Development Develop and lead a corporate fundraising and business development strategy that drives revenue growth, raising 12M+ annually collectively with the major gifts and membership engagement teams. Directly manage a portfolio of approximately 75–150 institutional donors and prospects; identifying and cultivating new corporate partners and deepening relationships with existing supporters. Work closely with executive leadership to align corporate initiatives with organizational goals and strategic priorities; Support the CEO, CDO, and Board of Directors in their corporate engagement efforts. In collaboration with Individual Giving, ensure workplace campaign donors who have membership in the Tocqueville Society (United Way’s major giving society) and/or affinity groups are stewarded appropriately. Monitor and evaluate corporate and institutional fundraising trends, adjusting strategies to reflect best practices and emerging opportunities in philanthropy. Secure unrestricted and program-specific corporate donations through grants, sponsorships, and employee engagement initiatives. Design and steward high-level partnerships that include multi-year commitments, co-branded initiatives, and in-kind contributions. Establishes, tracks, and achieves personal and team performance objectives as defined by corresponding performance metrics for relationship acquisition, revenue generation, donor engagement, and corporate relations strategies. Manages coordination of prospective and existing corporate/executive partner outreach across UWCM with Grants, Marketing/Partnership Development, Major Gifts, and special campaign teams. Serves as point of first contact for new institutional leads discovered across the organization; provides exceptional customer service and engagement with/referral to other UWCM staff to best meet client needs and relationship opportunities. Prepare and deliver regular reports, presentations, and impact stories for internal and external stakeholders. 30% Account Management Serve as the primary relationship manager in identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship development for a portfolio of 75-150 key strategic partner companies and organizations to increase donor engagement and giving at the company and individual levels. Provides strategic, targeted account management and excellent customer service. Responsibilities include engaging executives/CEOs, existing donors, prospects, and community coordinators, and developing and implementing a strategic approach for each account delivered through a defined workplan. Regularly updates company, donor, and financial results information in Development database(s). Achieves annual portfolio goals and provide leadership towards achievement of total annual campaign goal. Develops and implements strategic plans and tactics for account portfolio to achieve annual financial, participation, retention, donor stewardship, and revenue under management goals to include: Developing year-round relationships with accounts Providing outstanding customer service Tracking and reporting results and adjusting strategy as needed Deepening relationships with executives, coordinators, ambassadors, and donors Holding strategic donor stewardship conversations that lead to achievement of donor engagement, retention, and increased funding goals. Increasing dollars to Resources Under Management (RUM) for UWCM 20% Management of Relationship Management Team Manage a team of three fundraising professionals. Guide the development and execution of team and individual work plans to achieve annual revenue, retention, and donor stewardship objectives. Coach and train the Development Team for increasingly complex and new corporate opportunities to include sponsorships, point of sale campaigns, cause-related marketing, etc. Create and drive a culture of philanthropy across all fundraising areas that contribute to the entire Development Team’s goals. Provide leadership and direction to his/her teams to increase understanding and skills of relationship building, customer service, volunteer engagement, and Development technology uses and requirements. Select and hire new staff; identify, advise, and counsel direct reports regarding individual and team member professional development needs in line with corporate goals and policies. Conduct weekly/biweekly meetings with direct reports and motivate team members to ensure work plan results are achieved and collaboration across the organization is facilitated. |
