Required Experience:

QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree required.(Master’s degree preferred.)

· 7+ years in fundraising with a proven track record in securing significant funding.

· Proven track record of securing significant funding (in the $100,000 - $1 million+ range) from diverse sources, including foundations, corporations, and government, as well as major gifts from individuals.

· Experience in major gift cultivation, grant writing, grants and contracts management, and special events.

· Experience analyzing financial reports and developing program and organizational budgets.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Exceptional interpersonal, supervision, administration

· Strong connections to the funding community in Los Angeles, Sacramento, and California.

· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and management skills.

· Familiarity with fundraising software (Raiser’s Edge or equivalent).

SALARY/BENEFITS

· Pay rate is $140 - $170k D.O.E.

CHIEF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER JOB DESCRIPTION

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Since 2013, the Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC) has worked to end mass incarceration in California. To ensure our communities are safe, healthy, and whole, ARC empowers formerly and currently incarcerated people to thrive by providing a support network, comprehensive reentry services, and opportunities to advocate for policy change. Through our grassroots policy advocacy, we are dedicated to transforming the criminal justice system so that it is more just and equitable for all people. We are seeking an experienced, talented and enthusiastic CHIEF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER to join our Los Angeles team.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Chief Development Officer (CDO) is responsible for creating, implementing, and managing the organization’s annual and multi-year development strategies and overseeing all fundraising activities, including revenue generated from grants and contracts, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, capital and other special-purpose campaigns, Board engagement and giving, and special events. ARC is a well-resourced, financially stable organization with a Platinum Candid rating, an annual operating budget of approximately $26 million, $10 million in real property assets, and substantial savings and investment portfolios. This position works in close coordination with the executive management team in developing and tracking budgets and fundraising targets, as well as programmatic and organizational goals. The CDO will also work closely with ARC’s Board of Directors to support Board members in fundraising and donor stewardship opportunities.

The CDO will report directly to ARC’s Executive Director; will serve as a member of ARC’s Leadership Team; and will supervise a team that includes an Associate Director of Development, a Major Gifts Officer, a Grants and Contracts Manager, and others on the Development team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

· Lead and implement ARC’s 1-3-5 year development plans.

· Oversee fundraising to meet our $26M annual budget from diverse sources.

· Manage grants, contracts, and compliance in coordination with the Chief Financial Officer and others on the Finance team.

· Supervise and grow the Development team, ensuring professional growth and collaboration.

· Cultivate major donors and engage the Board in fundraising efforts.

· Innovate new revenue streams and fundraising tactics to diversify our portfolio.

· Help frame, design, and manage a private sector capital campaigns to augment public sector dollars allocated to make improvements to ARC owned-properties, including our offices, community hubs, and production studio.
