Required Experience:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered)

8–10+ years of progressive nonprofit development and/or marketing experience, including senior leadership responsibility.
Proven success growing revenue through individual, major, and corporate fundraising.
Demonstrated experience overseeing integrated marketing, communications, and digital engagement strategies.
Strong track record partnering with Boards/Trustees and volunteer leadership on fundraising.
Excellent strategic thinking, relationship-building, and communication skills.
Data-driven mindset with experience using CRM systems and marketing analytics tools.
Deep commitment to mission-driven work and ethical fundraising practices.

Director of Development & Marketing
(REMOTE)

JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Development & Marketing (DDM) is a senior leadership role responsible for driving revenue growth, increasing organizational visibility, and deepening community engagement to expand TAF’s programs and services.

Reporting to the Executive Director and serving as staff liaison to the Development & Marketing Committee, the DDM leads an integrated Development and Marketing department, ensuring fundraising strategy, brand storytelling, and audience engagement work together to achieve growth goals. The Director partners closely with Trustees, senior leadership, donors, and community stakeholders to build a strong culture of philanthropy and position the organization for long-term sustainability.

This role requires a strategic, results-oriented leader who blends relationship-based fundraising with modern marketing and digital engagement, while remaining hands-on with donors, data, and team leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Development & Marketing will:

Revenue Strategy & Organizational Growth

Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive, multi-year development and marketing strategy aligned with organizational priorities.
Set, manage, and achieve ambitious annual revenue goals across individual giving, major and planned gifts, corporate and foundation support, events, peer-to-peer, and digital fundraising.
Integrate fundraising and marketing strategies to strengthen donor acquisition, retention, and upgrade pathways.
Use data, analytics, and performance metrics to evaluate effectiveness, adjust strategy, and maximize return on investment.
Development & Fundraising Leadership

Lead all fundraising activities, including individual, major, corporate, and foundation giving, events, and peer-to-peer campaigns.
Personally manage a portfolio of major donors and high-capacity prospects, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships.
Develop strategies to grow leadership gifts and long-term donor engagement.
Partner with Trustees and senior leadership on donor strategy, solicitations, and stewardship efforts.
Board, Donor, & Community Engagement

Serve as staff liaison to the Development & Marketing Committee, ensuring effective governance, strategy alignment, and accountability.
Prepare dashboards, reports, and materials for Board and committee meetings, providing clear insights on performance and projections.
Coach and support Trustees in leveraging their networks and acting as ambassadors and fundraisers.
Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, corporate partners, funders, volunteers, and community stakeholders.
Marketing, Communications & Engagement

Oversee brand strategy and ensure consistent, compelling messaging across all platforms.
Translate program impact into donor- and audience-centered storytelling that supports fundraising, recruitment, and visibility.
Lead strategy for website, email marketing, digital campaigns, and social media, increasing engagement, reach, and conversion.
Oversee content calendars, campaigns, and performance metrics, staying current on digital trends and emerging platforms.
Maintain oversight of public-facing communications, including newsletters, impact reports, donor communications, and media support as needed.
Events, Peer-to-Peer & Community Fundraising

Oversee all fundraising and donor engagement events.
Lead peer-to-peer and third-party fundraising strategies, ensuring alignment with brand and revenue goals.
Ensure events and campaigns deepen engagement, reinforce organizational messaging, and drive net revenue.
Team Leadership & Operations

Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing Development & Marketing team, fostering collaboration, innovation, accountability, and mission-focused culture.
Set clear goals, metrics, and performance expectations for staff while supporting professional growth.
Oversee management of external consultants and vendors related to development, marketing, digital, events, and communications.
Foster strong collaboration between the Development & Marketing team and other departments, ensuring clear communication and alignment across the organization.
Systems, Budgeting & Compliance

Oversee CRM, marketing platforms, and digital tools to ensure accurate data, reporting, and decision-making.
Develop and manage development and marketing budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Ensure compliance with ethical, legal, and data privacy standards, as well as organizational fundraising policies and best practices.
