We are seeking a Chief of Staff to serve as a strategic and operational partner to Sagamore’s leadership team, providing day-to-day oversight of internal functions and key program areas. Location: Indianapolis (Broad Ripple); Option to work remote on Fridays
Job Functions: The Chief of Staff is required to perform a range of duties, including:
Staff Management
Provide regular support, coaching, and oversight to headquarters staff, helping to resolve challenges, clarify roles, and align individual priorities with organizational objectives.
Serve as a trusted sounding board for staff, balancing advocacy, accountability, and discretion.
Lead quarterly review processes, including goal setting, feedback, and evaluation of contributions.
Partner with senior leadership to identify organizational gaps, capacity needs, and opportunities for professional development.
Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring new staff and contractors as needed.
Foster a healthy, high-performing organizational culture that reflects Sagamore’s values.
Operations and Systems Oversight
Strengthen and continuously improve organizational processes. Work with staff to maintain and update a centralized office manual to ensure consistency, clarity, and institutional knowledge.
Oversee core operational areas, including donation processing and acknowledgement; partner, fellow, and contractor management; grant and contract review; event planning and execution; and document management and records retention.
Ensure staff have the tools, technologies, and support systems needed to work efficiently and effectively. Serve as the primary liaison with Sagamore’s IT provider and other operational vendors.
Program and External Engagement
Work closely with the leadership team to move new initiatives from concept to execution, supporting strategic planning, budgeting, and operational setup.
Take on special projects aligned with organizational priorities and the Chief of Staff’s strengths and interests.
Represent Sagamore at meetings, events, and public forums as appropriate, building and maintaining relationships with partners, donors, and key stakeholders.
