Required Experience:

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Management, Communications, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
7+ years of progressive leadership experience (or senior leadership experience) with increasing scope of responsibility; nonprofit/community-based experience preferred.
Demonstrated experience working with and reporting to a Board of Directors.
Proven ability in strategic planning, financial management, and organizational leadership.
Experience with facility management, including vendor oversight and capital improvements.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Experience in the broadcast news media space via television, radio, or streaming.
Familiarity with audiovisual equipment, broadcast servers, or media technology.

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt (salaried)
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
START DATE: Mid-April 2026 preferred. Relocation assistance available.
LOCATION: Office in Dennis Port, MA with local travel across the Cape towns served.
COMPENSATION: $120,000–$145,000 salary range, commensurate with experience.

Mission Statement : Building Community Through Media

Cape Media Center (CMC) is a nonprofit community media center and the public access TV station serving Barnstable, Yarmouth, Dennis, Harwich, and Chatham. Our mission is to build community through media, enhance democratic communication, and facilitate free expression by providing our towns with a state-of-the-art media resource center.



POSITION SUMMARY

The Chief Executive Officer provides visionary leadership and cultivates a culture of teamwork, innovation, and excellence. This role requires a highly motivated and collaborative leader who is passionate about public service and the mission of CMC.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer drives meaningful community engagement, organizational sustainability, digital innovation, facility oversight, and operational excellence.

The Chief Executive Officer exercises authority consistent with Board-approved policy, budget, bylaws, and delegated authority, and partners closely with the Board to set strategy and measure outcomes.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Administration

Maintain financial oversight of operations and ensure cost-effective budgets and purchasing procedures.
Provide the Board of Directors with timely monthly operational, financial, and progress reports.
Prepare annual operating and capital budgets, including 3- and 5-year projections.
Implement Board-approved policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
Maintain working knowledge of PEG channels and allocation processes.
Human Resources

Provide leadership, supervision, and mentorship to staff.
Implement personnel policies established by the Board.
Oversee staff training, development, and performance evaluation.
Lead recruitment, selection, performance management, and (when necessary) separation processes in accordance with Board-approved policy, budget, bylaws, and delegated authority.
Make hiring and termination recommendations and decisions consistent with established governance and delegated authority.
Operations & Planning

Advance the mission through strategic alignment of staff responsibilities and community needs.
Oversee development and enforcement of member policies and procedures.
Lead long-range planning in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
Establish measurable organizational goals and outcomes.
Outreach & Community Engagement

Strengthen awareness of CMC through outreach programs, partnerships, and community relationships.
Secure alternative funding sources such as grants, sponsorships, and annual appeals.
Maintain strong relationships with local nonprofits, municipalities, community organizations, and the public.
Maintain direct communication with media users and community members to provide support and guidance.
Facility Management

Oversee all aspects of facility operations, including building maintenance, repairs, safety, and vendor coordination.
Manage capital planning for the facility, including upgrades, equipment needs, and long-term infrastructure improvements.
Ensure the media center remains a safe, welcoming, functional environment for staff, members, and the public.
Coordinate with contractors, service providers, and construction partners for facility projects.
