About Family Support Centers of Utah
This is a rare opportunity to lead a statewide, systems-level organization that shapes funding, policy, standards, and collaboration for Family Support Centers across Utah—without direct service delivery, but with deep and lasting impact.
Family Support Centers of Utah (FSCU) is a statewide coordinating and advocacy organization that strengthens and supports Utah’s network of Family Support Centers. Local Family Support Centers operate independently under their own boards or county authorities; FSCU does not provide direct services or direct operational supervision.
FSCU exists to coordinate funding, advocacy, training, standards, and collaboration—ensuring a strong, aligned, and sustainable statewide system that supports children and families through prevention-focused, trauma-informed care.
Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director serves as FSCU’s chief executive and statewide leader. This role advances the organization’s mission, strategic vision, and long-term sustainability through governance partnership, systems leadership, fiscal stewardship, and collaboration—not through direct operational control of local Centers.
The Executive Director provides executive leadership across governance support, finance, fund development, contracts and compliance, advocacy, communications, and network capacity building, and serves as FSCU’s primary external representative.
This role requires a leader who is comfortable working within clear governance boundaries, navigating complex stakeholder environments, and leading through influence, alignment, and trust.
Key Responsibilities
Board & Governance Partnership
Exercise executive authority on behalf of the Board, consistent with Board-approved strategy, contracts, and policies
Implement Board-approved strategic priorities and statewide funding requirements
Partner with the Board on strategic planning, performance reporting, and organizational impact
Support strong governance practices, board development, onboarding, evaluation, and succession planning
Ensure committees are functioning effectively and providing timely, accurate recommendations
Organizational & Operational Leadership
Provide executive leadership for all FSCU operations
Foster a collaborative, mission-driven, trauma-informed, and inclusive organizational culture
Recruit, supervise, and support FSCU staff and contractors
Maintain policies, systems, and procedures that ensure accountability and compliance
Financial Management & Risk Oversight
Provide strategic financial leadership and fiscal stewardship
Develop and manage annual budgets in collaboration with the Board
Ensure strong internal controls, accurate financial reporting, and audit readiness
Proactively assess and mitigate organizational and financial risk
Grants, Contracts & Compliance
Lead statewide grant and contract strategy and administration
Ensure compliance with MOUs and public funding requirements while respecting local Center autonomy
Oversee outcome tracking, data reporting, and timely submission of required reports
Support funder and stakeholder communications
Network Leadership & Collaboration
Foster strong collaboration across the statewide Family Support Center network
Support the Advisory Group as a formal advisory body through clear communication and structured feedback pathways
Fund Development & External Relations
Develop and recommend a comprehensive revenue strategy to support long-term sustainability
Cultivate relationships with funders, public agencies, and strategic partners
Serve as FSCU’s primary contact for major funding and partnership relationships
Communications, Advocacy & Public Policy
Serve as FSCU’s chief spokesperson and statewide ambassador
Ensure advocacy positions align with Board-approved strategy
Build relationships with legislators, state agencies, and key partners
Represent FSCU on boards, coalitions, task forces, and at conferences
Training, Standards & Capacity Building
Support implementation and continuous improvement of Family Support Center standards

Coordinate statewide data collection and outcome reporting
